A comprehensive art project centered around Kazumitsu Akamatsu (Marmit), a leading artist representing Japanese kaiju culture.

Starting from uniquely Japanese forms of kaiju expression, such as sofubi, tokusatsu, and kaiju pro-wrestling, the project crosses into music, fashion, and lifestyle, reconstructing kaiju culture as a contemporary mode of expression.

In 2025, the first Kaiju Lab Exhibition was held, drawing significant attention from kaiju sofubi fans.

Moving beyond the boundaries of art and hobby culture, the project connects Japan-originated kaiju culture to a global context. Through expansion into international media, it communicates the creativity, physicality, and energy embodied by kaiju to audiences worldwide.

Kaiju Lab serves as a platform that presents kaiju culture not as a “heritage of the past,” but as a living, evolving culture of the present.
