ANGEL UNHAPPY

Dian™ (静電場朔™) and ASEVENORIGIN™

ANGEL UNHAPPY is a signature art toy project conceived by Dian (静電場朔), a multidisciplinary artist and creative director active in Tokyo and Beijing. Evolving from her long-standing painting series Miss Unhappy, this character marks the artist’s debut in the medium of Sofubi (soft vinyl). By seamlessly integrating elements of oriental mysticism with contemporary pop surrealism, Dian has established a distinct visual identity that resonates across international art scenes. The ANGEL UNHAPPY series has been featured in numerous exhibitions, bridging the gap between narrative illustration and collectible sculpture.

The core philosophy of ANGEL UNHAPPY rests on the poignant premise: “Angels are always covered in wounds.” As she grants the wishes of others, she bears their suffering in the form of physical scars. The sword pierced through her chest serves as a dual metaphor—a weapon against external adversity and a tool for the deconstruction of the "ego." Through this character, Dian explores the tension between the self, the higher self, and the id. The "Third Eye" and the "Sun" atop her head symbolize profound insight and silent warmth, transforming personal pain into a vast emotional universe. ANGEL UNHAPPY is not just a figure, but a spiritual vessel representing the quiet strength found within melancholy and the beauty of healing.
