Wang Xu (オウ キョク)

Visual Artist

Wang Xu is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice explores the fusion of graphic language and three-dimensional form. After specializing in graphic design at Tama Art University, he earned a second master's degree from Tokyo University of the Arts. His current practice spans painting, printmaking, ceramics, and installation, navigating the intersections of diverse media with a rigorous material sensibility.

At the core of Wang's work is a methodology of collecting, arranging, and structuring to redefine the spiritual essence of objects. By distancing his subjects from specific narratives, he employs artificial placements and altar-like displays to evoke a sense of spatial ritual. Through the interplay of material textures and precise spatial organization, he challenges viewer perception, continuously exploring the possibilities of spirituality and sensation within contemporary iconography.
