田辺美那子 (Minako Tanabe)

Painter and Curator

Painter and gallerist.

Born in Tokyo in 1994. She holds a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Keio University.

During her student years, she was a member of the university art club. At university, she conducted research on pharmacokinetics in the placenta. After completing graduate school, she worked at a department store in Tokyo, where she was involved in buying women’s and children’s fashion.

After leaving her position, she founded Tanabe Gallery in 2025. Through painting and collage, her work explores the seemingly ordinary aspects of everyday life—moments that appear normal at first glance, yet reveal a sense of absurdity or subtle discomfort upon closer observation.

She received the Popularity Award at the Chōtei Gallery Exhibition 2021 and was selected for the FACE Exhibition 2026.
