Ohe Kaho is a sculptor whose practice focuses on representing human figures living in contemporary society through traditional sculptural forms and modeling techniques. After graduating from Ina Gakuen Sogo High School in Saitama, she studied sculpture at Tokyo Zokei University and completed her graduate studies in fine arts. She currently works as an assistant in the Sculpture Department at Tokyo Zokei University. Believing that sculpture created today should represent people of the present era, Ohe explores the diverse egos and identities that exist within modern society through the human figure. Sculpture with the human form as its motif has existed consistently throughout human history. In ancient times, anthropomorphic thinking led to the creation of human-shaped objects of worship. Since the modern era, sculptors have expressed the human figure through their own values and perspectives, creating works that symbolize the people and societies of their time. Building upon this historical continuum, Ohe seeks the possibility of new human figures that resonate with the present day. Her work quietly examines how contemporary humanity can be embodied through sculpture, bridging tradition and modern sensibility.
