Chakurin.Go (査克林)

Painter and Designer

Born in China and currently based in Tokyo.

Chakurin.Go completed the Department of Visual Communication at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in China in 2015, and received an MA in Global Art Practice from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2021.

Her practice centers on installation and illustration, critically examining the supposedly comfortable conditions of postmodern urban life.

Representative works include the Mr. Popcha series, inspired by and reflecting on Aldous Huxley’s dystopian novel Brave New World; the surreal Midnight Animals series, depicting midnight Tokyo and evoking themes reminiscent of Hiroki Azuma’s Otaku: Japan’s Database Animals; and Foodscapes, her lifelong project merging people, food, and urban landscapes.
