Bonboya-zyu (ボンボヤージュ)

Visual Artist

Bonboya-zyu is a Japanese illustrator,
born in 1973 in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture,
and currently based in Tokyo.

The name “Bonboya-zyu” was chosen simply because it sounded good—
without knowing that “bon voyage” means “have a good trip.”
For this reason, the artist continues to use
the unconventional Romanized spelling “bonboya-zyu.”

Bonboya-zyu is best known for illustrations featuring animals
with oversized heads,
rendered with a gentle sense of humor and warmth.

Major publications include
the Chibi-Gallery series,
the Tabi-Bon series,
Otona-Bon,
and Tatsumaki Button
(Shufu to Seikatsusha).
